Can Inosuke Keep Up with Zenitsu in Terms of Speed?

Can Inosuke Keep Up with Zenitsu in Terms of Speed?

Demon Slayer, a popular anime that started airing in 2019, has many fans devoted to the story and its characters. Following the struggles and triumphs of Tanjiro Kamado, this anime has millions of fans all over the world.

Despite the main character being a huge favorite with viewers, the side characters garner just as much attention. Zenitsu and Inosuke, Tanjiro’s companions, are powerful demon slayers in their own right.

But when comparing the two companions, which one is fastest? Do Inosuke’s background and survival instincts make him faster, or can Zenitsu’s lightning-fast movements leave him in the dust?

Can Inosuke Keep Up with Zenitsu in Terms of Speed?

Inosuke may be very powerful and have impressive speed, but he’s not nearly as fast as Zenitsu. Since Zenitzu uses Thunder Breathing, he can reach speeds that Inosuke will likely never be able to achieve. Speedwise, Zenitsu is definitely better than Inosuke.

Inosuke vs Zenitsu: Who’s Truly the Fastest?

Warning, the following discussion has spoilers for both the anime and manga, so proceed with caution.

Zenitsu’s deadly attacks rely on amazing speed, which can reach amazing numbers. He basically ‘blitzes’ his enemies, taking them by surprise. This is something he can do because he moves so fast when asleep.

In the manga, we can see Zenitsu and Inosuke teaming up to fight a tough demon, Daki. They work together to cut the demon’s head off and their speed is shown off quite nicely.

Zenitsu used his Thunderclap and Flash (God Speed) and although Inosuke could keep up, it was probably only because Zenitsu was starting to lose steam. It is undeniable that Zenitsu is one of the fastest demon slayers in the anime.

His God Speed move is really, really fast. It’s believed he can reach approximately 106 miles per hour. This is about four times the record for fastest human, so it’s safe to say that Zenitsu is incredibly fast.

Inosuke, on the other hand, is all about brute force and storming right in. He has amazing strength, but it seems like he might not be as fast as “Monichi”, even if he would argue that he is much faster.

So, when you take all these facts into consideration, it seems more than plausible that Zenitsu is faster than Inosuke.

Unless he starts to do speed training, Inosuke can’t completely keep up with Zenitsu and he likely won’t. But we should keep in mind that Zenitsu trains hard as well and continues to grow as a demon slayer, even if he needs to be unconscious to truly make the most of his powers.

If it was a matter of strength, Inosuke would have the upper hand for sure. He is also a lot more flexible than Zenitsu and has a lot more energy to work with when fighting demons.

However, when you look at Inosuke on his own, he is still pretty fast. He would easily outrun a low-level demon and can definitely run faster than a normal human. All those years training in the mountains did his legs a lot of favors. It’s probably only because he mastered Thunder Breathing that Zenitsu is able to be so quick.

Thunder Breathing focuses on the leg strength of those who use it, which is why they are able to reach amazing speeds when moving. Because Zenitsu was able to learn this breathing technique, he is able to move a lot faster than he would otherwise.

Inosuke, though, is fast because of his training and tough upbringing. Without his breathing technique, Zeniitsu probably would not have been able to beat Inosuke when it comes to speed.

How Does Zenitsu’s Power Work?

Everyone knows that Zenitsu isn’t the bravest demon slayer out there. He is quickly filled with fear and doesn’t believe in himself enough to be confident and stand his ground.

And yet, when the situation gets dire, he manages to faint and then amaze everyone around him and display amazing power.

Many fans of the anime wonder how that works. After all, he is unconscious!

The thing is, when he is asleep, he can access his natural abilities as a skilled and trained swordsman without his own negativity or doubt. He is then able to use the fighting style taught to him by Jigoro Kuwajima, a former Thunder Hashira.

All his training and efforts pay off when he falls unconscious. If only he realized, maybe he would believe in himself more and realize his own potential.

What about Tanjiro?

So, if Zenitsu is faster than Inosuke, is he faster than Tanjiro as well? Probably, yes. Although Tanjiro is a gifted fighter and can wield his sword like an expert, he is rather slow. His power is admirable, but his speed is a bit lacking.

With that said, Zenitsu’s movement while unconscious is incredibly fast. Just look at his fight with the Son Spider Demon – it was over as soon as he fell asleep and there was nothing the demon could do to fight back in time.

If Zenitsu should ever square off against Tanjiro while asleep, he will most likely win when it comes to speed. Raw power and skill is a whole other thing though, and Tanjiro would probably win the fight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Question About Can Inosuke Keep Up with Zenitsu in Terms of Speed?

Does Zenitsu Have Superspeed?

Zenitsu has super speed. However, none of the anime’s characters have inhuman or superhuman powers. They have all been trained in the various breathing styles that make it possible for them to break the limits us mere mortals have. With that said, Zenitsu does have the ability to reach amazing speeds, which could be described as superspeed powers.

Is Zenitsu The Fastest Demon Slayer Character?

Although he is really fast, Zenitsu is not the fastest character in Demon Slayer. There are many characters that can boast amazing speeds, but the title of fastest demon slayer goes to Uzui Tengen, the flashy, but gifted and beloved Sound Hashira.

Zenitsu Is Faster Than Inosuke

In conclusion, Zenitsu, everyone’s favorite Thunder Breathing technique user, is faster than Inosuke, everyone’s favorite feral child. He can reach amazing speeds that Inosuke would have trouble keeping up with. But, if Inosuke can get a few shots in or somehow tire out Zenitsu, he might in all likelihood win a fight between the two of them.
